Does TV need political satire? The demise of the little-loved BBC show The Mash Report has brought that question sharply into focus over the past few days. Concerns over the left-wing bias of Nish Kumar’s topical series seemed to seal its fate, although the fact is that it wasn’t very funny can’t have helped; it was little more than an affirmation of people’s prejudices – tedious and very predictable.
